My Decision Today

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

All men are sinners.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 (NIV)

The penalty of sin is death (eternal separation from God).

“He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power.”

2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 (NIV)

We must be perfect (not just good) to enter heaven.

“Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”

Revelation 21:27 (NIV)

We can do nothing by ourselves to obtain/earn this perfection.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)

God provided a sacrifice for the penalty of our sins.

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV)

We must trust in Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ alone, to obtain eternal perfection, which the Bible calls righteousness.

“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”

John 1:12 (NIV)

Perhaps you can use this model prayer to trust Christ as your Savior.

Jesus, I do want You to be my Savior. I do want Your gift of eternal life. I know that I have sinned against You and cannot save myself. So right now, I ask Your eternal forgiveness of all my sins and I accept You as my personal Savior, believing that You died on the cross and paid for all my sins. Forgive me now and please give to me Your precious gift of eternal life.

Amen.
